Having just decided to turn down a project for an engineering company that specialised in oil and gas related work, finding this movement was perfect timing. While it wasn’t directly for a fossil fuel company I wasn’t comfortable putting my name to that project, given that we’re trying our best to be as sustainable as possible.
It was a tricky decision and obviously I still rely on fossil fuels for many things in life like anyone that’s not living completely off grid.
We’re a movement of advertisers, PR professionals, and their clients cutting ties with fossil fuels.
Sustainability is about your clients, not just your company. One campaign for a fossil fuel client can undo all of an agency’s sustainability gains.
Clean Creatives is bringing together leading agencies, their employees, and clients to address the ad and PR industry’s work with fossil fuels. Continuing to work for fossil fuel companies poses risks to brands that prioritize sustainability, and their agencies.
The Clean Creatives pledge is the best way to show you are committed to a future for the creative industry that doesn’t include promoting pollution.
As creatives or leaders of agencies, the pledge says that you will decline future contracts with the fossil fuel industry.
As clients, it says you will decline work with agencies that retain fossil fuel industry clients.
