Retrofitworks are the parent company of Parity Projects and offer consultancy and project management to improve energy efficiency in existing homes. We redesigned their website to refine their message and upgrade from a template to a custom design.

Design
The challenge with this project was getting across what Retrofitworks offer and who can benefit from their services. It’s a complex offering and the site needed to appeal to various target demographics, explaining how it works in an easy to understand format. With strong colours in the logo, we picked those and the ellipse up to create a bold homepage that aims to avoid being too boxy.
WordPress Build
We then turned the designs into a custom WordPress theme – we don’t use templates or page builder plugins. This keeps the speed up by only using the code that’s needed and avoids any recurring license fees. It’s all easy to use behind the scenes too with the use of Advanced Custom Fields to allow Retrofitworks to create their own attractive pages at any time.
A private ecommerce area built with WooCommerce allows orders to be processed and customer details retained. A forum was also added for members to communicate with each other.
This is all finished off with a good dose of browser and device testing, along with some basic accessibility checks.
Green Web Hosting
The new site runs on our green web hosting, a perfect fit for the environmentally friendly focus of Retrofitworks’ business.
WordPress Maintenance
We help keep the website up to date and running smoothly with regular WordPress updates and any minor fixes required. The server software (PHP), WordPress and plugins all change over time and it’s essential to keep up to date to prevent any functionality or security issues.
